When we got into the burial chamber there were three
little rooms each with a stone basin in them, probably
for putting the dead people’s ashes into or for religous
ceremonies. The roof of the chamber was corbelled
(overlaping stones) and it was built so well that rain could
not enter the passage tomb from the roof! Then our guide
turned off the lights and flicked another switch sending
a small ray of light down the passage tomb. This was
an example of the summer and winter solstice sending
a small ray of light through the roof box of the passage
tomb and illuminating the passage. The trip overall was
fantastic and we really enjoyed it.
