As part of the AIB Build a Bank Challenge we set up a school bank called
‘The Treasure Chest Bank’. Early in the year the Student Officer for AIB
held interviews to pick the six members. Anita Armstrong was picked for
Bank Manager, Nigel Kells as Assitant Manager, Eoin Hannick as Financial
Controller, Abigael Pierce as Sales and Marketing Manager, Adam
McClean and Kelly Cartwright as Customer Service Representatives.
We held our Bank every Friday where pupils could come and lodge
money or make an account or set up Internet Banking. For our Official
Opening we dressed up as pirates and got Karl Heaslip to dress up as a
Pirate Santa to open the Bank Officially. During the year we worked hard
preparing for the Bank Competition which was held in Leopardstown
Racecourse where we came in the Top 10 out of 32 schools, just missing
out on the National Final.
We also raised money by holding a raffle in aid of Enable Ireland and
we raised €260. Enable Ireland kindly agreed for us to take a tour of
their premises. We got sponsorship from Cara Pharmacy, DT 1, Denim
Plus, Burke’s Pharmacy, Daisy Dukes and
J&B Hope. Their kind sponsorship went as
the prises for the raffle. We also took part in a food drive where we got
collected food and donated it to ST Vincent De Paul.
It has been a very successful and enjoyable year working in the bank
and we have achieved so much. The experience has been brilliant and
I would like to thank Aoife Smith the Student Officer from AIB and Ms.
Trenier for all the hard work and help they have given us throughout
the year.
