TY Mini CoMpanies
MillwoRkS
We are a Transition year Mini-Company called Millworks. The company
includes the following members: Adam Mclean, Hsing Chang, Joshua Cherry,
Tara Spears, Liam Smith, Mathew Stewart, Jonathan Stewart and Joshua
Pringle. We produced a range of wooden farm sets. A farm safety booklet
was also made to inform people of the dangers while farming.
The company sold products at the annual Cavan Craft Fair and also sold the sets in the school as well. The
company also attended the young enterprise competition which took place at the Slieve Russell Hotel.
Millworks won third overall in Co.Cavan and had a very successful day.
By being part of a Mini-company, we had learned the key
skills and attributes needed to have a successful mini-
company. We learned that co-operation and teamwork are
essential to crate a profitable business.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Robertson
and Mr Patterson for their help and invaluable input
throughout the year. Without their help progress would not
be possible. We thoroughly enjoyed the Mini-Company and
all that it entails. We unquestionably learned a lot that will
stand us in the future.
SASSy SAfeTy

We designed, create and sell safety jacket for dogs. We contain six members,
Emmanuel Dawodu, Annija Gold, Emma Graham, Debbi Sonaike, Marina
Lopez and Amy Gibbons. We are situated in Cavan. We have accumulated a
very satisfying profit over these few months of our mini-company, Sassy Safety.
Our product has been purchase in are school. We have sold are products at
the Cavan Craft Fair and also Cavan town centre. We have promoted are product properly by using method
like surveys, making a Facebook page, and in places that we sold them in. We used survey because it was
way to promote are product and also get good information about what the customer wants and how we
should design the safety jackets. We made them in different
sizes e.g. small, large and medium.
We sewed them & we got fabric sponsored from from
Cavan County Council. On the 5th of March, are company
appeared the Young Enterprise competition in the location
of Slieve Russell Hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t win any
awards, but we have acquired many customer. Also we use
to make bow-tie, but we weren’t making any profits so had
to quickly discontinue them so we can focus on are main
source of income. We are very happy with our Mini-company
experience.
