The Organic Centre
As part of our Science class, the T.Y.’s went on a
Horticultural trip to The Organic Centre in Co.
Leitrim in mid-March. This was a great trip where
we learned many interesting tips like seed depth
and plant identification for growing anything from
homegrown vegetables and seeds to greenhouses
and polytunnels.
In the morning we attended a demonstration
on seed identification and how to plant seeds
correctly. We saw many interesting things like
heated flower beds for growing in the winter
and automatic watering systems. Later, in the
Afternoon we were taken on a tour of the Organic
Centre, where we saw the vast array of plants and
vegetables and how they fertilise their plants with
organic fertilisers made on site.
It was a brilliant trip and was definitely worth the
two hour bus journey to and from the Organic
Centre.
French Breakfast
In French class we had a French breakfast which was enjoyable and
fun. We had a lot of different foods like des croissants, du jus de
pomme, de la brioche and du fromage. It was really tasty and fun
learning about French culture.
Laura Moorhead
The French breakfast tasted very nice. I especially liked the croissants.
A lot of the food was new to me. It was a nice experience to try out
new food.
Noah McBride
In French class we were presented with a huge selection of French
pastries and fine cheese. There were loads of different choices of food
such as pain au chocolat, brie, croissants, brioche and much more. My
favourite thing was the cheese. J’adore le petit déjeuner en France!
Millie Kinnear
I enjoyed the French breakfast very much. My favourite food was the
brioche with jam. I sometimes eat croissants at the weekend because
I really like them.
