The Parents Association
The Parent’s Association is active in the school. It is chaired by
myself, I also do the secretarial duties, and Una Matthews is the
Treasurer. It met on 5 occasions in the past year, including the AGM
in September last year. All meetings were attended by Mr Corley,
this is a great asset to the meetings. Minutes are emailed to any
parent whose email address we have. If you are not getting these
emails and would like to, please contact us at parentsassociation@
royalschoolcavan.ie
The Parent’s Association lobbied local Politicians regarding the lack of
safety at the School Entrance. Cavan County Council have promised
signage, change of road markings and the extension of kerbing
outwards. Hopefully this will make the school entrance a safer place.
Another very successful Christmas Raffle took place after another
great School Carol Service. €2,043 was raised. This allowed for the
purchase of 75 Postura chairs, and 14 double classroom tables.
The Parent’s Association has also donated €250 to fund the new
Cross country Sports Kit, and €195 towards the TY Rossinver
Organic Centre trip.
The hard working Sports Hall fund-raising group are a sub-
committee of the main PA, and it’s members are: Una Matthews,
Carole Clarke, Carol Tobin, Brona Hannick; Richard Hudson, Hugh
Spears and John Reilly. This year their fundraising work was assisted
by the Build a Bank Group and Miss Murphy.
They arranged a Table Quiz in January of this year, raising €915 for
the Sports Hall. The teachers won again-well done! They also again,
very kindly gave back their winnings-Thank you.
Another fantastic Gala Concert was held in March raising €4195
for the Sports Hall Fund. The concert was another great display of
the school’s talent, along with the Cavan Rugby Male Voice Choir,
the Song Sisters, Cavan Sinfonia
Orchestra, Louise Florence and
Cobhla Surlis. The concert was
again presented by Margaret
McKeon Boyle, who also does
a super job managing the PA
facebook page.
