Archery

In January 2017, I joined my local archery club - Cavan
Archers. I started with a Recurve Bow but then moved on
to a more powerful Compound Bow. I train twice a week
with the club and every day at home. It is a great sport for
           concentration and focus.
I have entered many competitions and my medal
collection is growing steadily! I received a trophy at the
end of the year for the most improved archer in the club.
But the best medal I have, I received in March of this year
at the National Indoor Championships where I won gold
which makes me the National Indoor Compound Cadet
           Champion. Rogan Cunningham
In September 2017, my club coach put my name forward
to train at the open sessions for the Junior Archery Ireland team. There were four sessions in total, three in Dublin and one
in Cork. The trainers were looking for motivation, determination and willingness to compete and succeed at the highest
level. I was the youngest to attend the training sessions.
Over the Easter weekend, I received a phone call from Archery Ireland to tell me that I had been selected as part of the
Junior Irish Archery Team. This means that I will train and compete with the Irish team both here and abroad. I feel very
proud and excited to have been given this fantastic opportunity.

                                                                                Rogan Cunningham. 2S

                                                          Craft Club

Craft Club is a club in which students can
maximise their creativity and imagination and
create beautiful works of art and crafts. It takes
place every Monday after school in the French
classroom organised by our French teacher Ms.
McElwaine. A relaxed ambience is often created
by pop songs that we are allowed to play as we
work and this adds to the enjoyment of the club.
While in Craft Club, we have created beautiful
frames with button art, melted crayon art,
découpage jewellery boxes and we even took
part in a Crafts Competition, the Upcycling
Challenge organised by Free Trade Ireland, where
we transformed an old table using a découpage
technique. Right now, we are in the middle of
completing our quilling and look forward to
creating more arts and crafts in the future.
