MULTI-CULTURAL WEEK

                       Student Expo

During the Week of Languages and Cultures we held a Student Expo in
the schoolroom. Pupils who are from, or whose parents are from different
countries or cultures held an information session for other students to visit
and learn about our multicultural school. Students represented Nigeria,
Lithuania, Poland, Japan, Holland, Germany, Scotland, USA, Benin, Ghana
       and Latvia.
We did a presentation for Nigeria. We set up tables in the schoolroom and
placed some items that represent our culture. We dressed in traditional
clothes. We had some food such as fried yams, jell of rice and a couple more.
Some of the students played a board game played in Nigeria. We also told
them lots of interesting facts about Nigeria.
                                              Sophia Kelvin 3R

I brought in items and food connected with Holland, where my dad is
from. There were clogs (traditional Dutch shoes), dropjes (type of sweets
from Holland), pictures of the many tulip fields and windmills, and a book
teaching how to count in Dutch. The day was interesting and enjoyable
       for everyone.

           Presentation on Pakistan

During the Week of Languages and Cultures Sameera Khalid came in
to teach us about Pakistani culture and foods. She showed us Pakastani
pottery, traditional dresses known as salwar kameez’s, her handcrafted
items and books on the country. She also showed us a powerpoint on
       various facts of Pakistan.
For the second portion of the workshop, she cooked traditional Pakastani
dishes. These dishes include Chickpea Pilao rice with dry fruit, Samosas,
traditional breads and Vermicelli pudding mostly known as ‘Kheer’.
We would like to thank Mrs Khalid for giving us the acumen on Pakastani
culture and hope she wil return for a further number of years to teach other
       students on Pakastani cultures.
