MUSiC
Hi, my name is Sonia Cahill, I am a third year student. I really enjoy music and I have decided to study
music for my Junior Certificate exam. Quite recently ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge’ took place, and members
of the school choir, soloists and musicians were invited to participate. My music teacher accompanied
me on piano while I played the concertina. I played a jig, a polka and a slow air. This event was a great
success and enjoyed by all.
On 26 September 2013, the Harvest Service of Thanksgiving was celebrated at the Church of Ireland
Parish Church, Cavan. The school choir sang ‘For the Fruits of His Creation’ accompanied by Ms. Woods on
piano, Michael McKeon-Boyle, Form 2, on accordion and myself on concertina. There was a great variation
of hymns sung beautifully by the school choir. The congregation enjoyed these beautiful hymns.
Before breaking up for our Christmas holidays, we had our annual Christmas carol service. Members of
the Parents Association joined us in our service. There was a wonderful display of music on the day. Our
diligent music teacher prepared an outstanding afternoon enjoyed by all who attended. None of these
wonderful events would have taken place without the hard work and enthusiasm of our very popular
music teacher, Ms. Woods. So a big ‘Thank-You’ for your dedication.
Sonia Cahill,4s.
