WELLNESS WEEK

5th Year Mental Health Week Picnic

During our mental health week, from the 9th-13th of October, the fifth years had
a wellbeing “picnic” in the common room on Thursday morning of that week.
Everyone from 5th year attended, along with Ms Burns and Mr Plunket who are
our wellbeing teachers. We came up the idea of a wellbeing picnic the previous
week in wellbeing class while we were eating chocolate “mindfully” with Ms
Burns. We thought it would be a good idea to get everyone together in one room
to converse and socialise, and what better way to do that than with a picnic!
Everyone contributed in some way from baking delicious food to bringing along
milk or tea bags for a cup of tea. We had plenty of food which helped us get
through a tough Thursday morning of classes! The picnic related to the theme
of mental health as we were in a comfortable environment that encouraged us
to talk to and listen to our peers and express any issues or problems we may
have had. It definitely cheered us all up when we seen the array of food that was
waiting for us in the common room!
Overall, the picnic was a great hit with the 5th year students and definitely an
idea for next years Mental Health Week.
