Inesa’s winning photograph Inesa Dubaviciute & Ms. McElwaine Winner of The
Neat Streets Photography Competition
‘Neat Streets’ photography competition
I found out about this competition from Ms McElwaine as we had her for our photography module. I
entered this competition as I really like photography so I thought I would give it a try.
We had to take a photo of someone putting something into a bin, to encourage a cleaner, greener
school. We brainstormed ideas and came up with one I liked the most, the ‘evolution of man’ image. We
went outside and the boys lined up. I had to think about where the sun was and pick a good background
which was the snow. I took the photo and edited it to black and white.
The next day I got a message on snapchat to say I had won the €50 voucher daily prize and I was in with
a chance to win the overall prize, a mini iPad. It took a week for the winner to be announced. I checked
and it was me! I did not expect to win it, I was very happy. I am very thankful to Ms McElwaine for telling
me about the competition, her help with the idea and for encouraging me to enter the competition.
