                Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to Royal School Cavan. We hope that this prospectus will answer some of your
questions that you may have about our school and give an insight into what we offer. We are a co-educational
progressive and caring school under the patronage of the Cavan Protestant Local Board of Education. The
school has a long and proud history in education provision since 1611.

We in Royal School Cavan strive for each student to be happy and secure here and to reach their full potential
in a caring and co-operative community. Our school motto ‘Ad Vitam Paramus’ – ‘We are preparing for life’
                – summarises the overall ethos of our school. Our overarching vision is to provide ‘A caring and respectful
                community that empowers learning’.

Our school is committed to a high-quality education provision as well as an extensive range of extra-curricular and
co-curricular activities which promote the holistic development of our students. Our students are encouraged
by our excellent team of teachers to work hard and to reach their full potential.

We acknowledge the primary role of parents/guardians in the education of their children and always maintain
a close relationship with you through the Parents’ Association, Parent-Pupil-Teacher meetings, School Journal,
and our website. In addition, you are always welcome to visit the school to discuss your child’s progress.
In this prospectus we give you an overview of school life. If you require any further information, please visit our
website, or contact the school directly. We will be delighted to answer any questions you may have.

                (Principal) (Deputy Principal)

                Chaplain’s Welcome

I am very glad to add my welcome, as Chaplain, both to our school and to this prospectus. Our Christian ethos
shapes every aspect of our school community, giving Royal School Cavan its particular identity and serving
to make it the compassionate and nurturing environment that it is. Central to this ethos are fi ve core values:
Respect, Love, Honesty, Kindness and Wholesomeness.

Students are also encouraged to explore the Christian faith that underpins these values through Religious
Education lessons, regular assemblies, seasonal services, involvement in the Christian Union group, and the
opportunity to prepare for confi rmation. I am in the school regularly, am part of the Student Support Team, and
am always available to help with any pastoral needs.
Life as a teenager can be challenging. But our aim is to see every student thrive holistically — personally,
                academically, and spiritually.

                Revd. Mark Smith
