The Third year Croke Park Trip
On the 26th of January the Form 3 history class went on a trip to Croke Park. When we
arrived we got to look around the GAA museum. We then met our tour guides. We were
told that we would not be able to do the skyline tour due to gale-force winds. We were
split up into two groups.
We started the tour by watching a short ten minuet video on how the GAA was involved
in the events leading up to the 1916 rising. Then our tour guide brought us to the players’
lounge where we saw a Waterford Crystal chandelier with 32 crystal gaelic balls to
represent each county and 70 small balls to represent the length of a GAA match. Then we
went to the senior players changing room.
Finally we got to walk out to the pitch. Our tour guide took us to several stands including
Hogan’s stand and told us a little bit about each one. We were then brought to the highest
seats were we got a good view of the stadium. Finally, we headed back to the GAA museum
and tried different games that tested our GAA skills.
Afterwards we went to Blanchardstown shopping centre for lunch. Overall the trip was
very interesting. Thank you to Mrs. Trenier, Mrs. Forde and Mr. Galligan for taking us on
this trip.
