overall aim was to do well in the knockout competitions this year, and so the rst

In the Cavan/Monaghan nal St. Mogues Bawnboy were our opponents, who we
beat 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. The Royal took the lead through Sanjo Babatunde,
but early in the second half we were reduced to 10 men and had to soak up a lot
of pressure. It was then that the team showed their character and really hung on
to thwart all Bawnboy’s attempts on goal. Then in a swift counter attack we broke
forward and Precious Orija swept home a second goal to seal the win. Bawnboy
scored a consolation goal at the end but it proved to be too little too late and the cup
was to stay in the Royal for another year.
In our last game we lost out in the Ulster Semi- nal, but overall we can be happy with
our progress this year and look forward to more success next year.
